Rivolgo un cordiale saluto ai partecipanti al Mondiale ISU Short Track a Squadre “Bormio 2010” ed auguro che questo momento si traduca in una grande festa di sport. Dietro a questa manifestazione c'è il cuore pulsante di una grande famiglia sportiva che, partendo dalla Bormio Ghiaccio sino a tutta l'Unione Sportiva Bormiese, sostiene quotidianamente la pratica dello sport e dello Short Track in particolare e che, per il marzo 2010, vuole riservare una calorosa ed efficiente accoglienza ad atleti, accompagnatori e pubblico.
Nell'evento “Bormio 2010” una grande organizzazione, alimentata da passione e tanto volontariato, vuole rendere evidenti quegli aspetti che hanno permesso a Bormio di primeggiare nel mondo della “pista corta” con gli atleti ma anche con eventi annuali di grande richiamo, non da ultimo grazie al sostegno di Istituzioni sportive, scolastiche e pubbliche, nonché di sponsor privati.
Per questo al palaghiaccio di Bormio il 27 e 28 marzo 2010 si preannuncia una grande vetrina non solo per le sfide tra atleti: sarà l'occasione per conoscere anche un bellissimo angolo delle Alpi di Lombardia, la Valtellina con inimitabili paesaggi, prodotti, tradizioni ed ospitalità.

I would like to give a hearty welcome to all participants of the “Bormio 2010” ISU World Team Championships and wish that this moment becomes a great sports celebration.
Behind this event there is the beating heart of a great sports family, starting from the Bormio Ghiaccio up to all the “Unione Sportiva Bormiese”, which are day by day supporting the practice of all sports and especially of the Short Track. In March 2010 they would all like to give a warm and a competent welcome to athletes, entourage and spectators.
During the “Bormio 2010” event the organizing committee powered with passion and a lot of voluntary workers, would like to show all the aspects that have permitted Bormio to be among the best of the world on the short track with its athletes, as well as with the yearly events of great attraction, not last thanks to the support of sports, school and public institutions and private sponsors. We thank the I.S.U. and the F.I.S.G. for having given us the possibility to hold such a prestigious competition.
Therefore it looks as if March 27 and 28, 2010 the Bormio ice stadium is going to be a big showcase, not only for the challenge among the athletes: it will also be the occasion of getting to know a beautiful corner of the Lombardy Alps, the Valtellina valley with its matchless mountain landscapes, typical products, traditions and hospitality.

A nome dell'International Skating Union desidero porgere un caloroso benvenuto a quanti, da tutto il mondo, raggiungeranno l'Italia e Bormio per i Campionati del Mondo a Squadre 2010 di Short Track.
Ringrazio la Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio per aver voluto ospitare questo evento prestigioso. La preziosa attività della Federazione nella promozione e nello sviluppo dello Short Track è ben riconosciuta dall'ISU. Ringrazio quanti sono coinvolti nella preparazione di questo Mondiale: il Comitato Organizzatore, gli Ufficiali di Gara ed i volontari per il loro lavoro che, ne sono certo, darà vita ad una competizione di successo ed entusiasmante.

I wish to extend a warm welcome on behalf of the International Skating Union to everyone coming from near and far to be in Bormio, Italy for the 2010 World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships.
I would like to congratulate the Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio for hosting this prestigious Event.  The valuable activity of the federation to promote and develop Short Track is well recognized by the ISU and I thank all of those concerned in the preparations of the Championships: the Organizing Committee, the Officials and the volunteers for their hard work to provide what I am certain will be a successful and enjoyable competition.
I wish the best of luck to all of the Teams and am sure that in the next days they will find the best conditions to perform the races in a true atmosphere of friendship and fair play in the ideals of sport.

C'è sempre grande soddisfazione quando si organizzano manifestazioni di questo tenore per l’entusiasmo che questa disciplina ha trovato in Bormio, da tempo punto di riferimento strategico nazionale ed internazionale e, quindi, quasi sede naturale di questa importante manifestazione ospitata per la seconda volta.

Desidero inoltre esprimere la più sincera gratitudine sia al Comitato Organizzatore che ha curato tutti i dettagli per consentire un regolare svolgimento delle gare, sia alla comunità di Bormio che ha assicurato la sua ben nota ospitalità.

I am very delighted to greet the athletes, directors and technicians that have gathered here in Bormio for the Short Track World Team Championships.
While organizing events of these standards there is always great satisfaction for the enthusiasm this discipline has found in Bormio, which has since a while become a strategic National and International point of reference, and therefore a almost natural site of this important event hosted for the second time.
I further wish to express sincere gratitude to the organizing committee which has taken care of all the details to allow a regular course of the races, as well as to the community of Bormio that has assured there well known hospitality.

Ancora una magia dalla “Magnifica Terra”: la disputa del Campionato del Mondo a squadre di Short Track. Un avvenimento iridato di cui andare giustamente orgogliosi per la nuova (ennesima), grande passerella che la Contea di Bormio ha saputo mettere in pista (corta). Sono presenti in Alta Valle le migliori squadre del mondo di questo sport e la lotta per la conquista del medagliere sarà indubbiamente di tutto rispetto.
Un cordiale “Benvenuti” a tutti i protagonisti di questo Campionato del Mondo, anche se tifo per gli azzurri che però dovranno competere con avversari agguerritissimi e quindi l’augurio è che vinca sempre il migliore, com’è nello spirito delle competizioni sportive.
Come rappresentante del Coni Provinciale ci tengo a sottolineare la nostra  soddisfazione per la presenza di tanti valtellinesi in squadra, tra i quali la più giovane atleta italiana che abbia mai vinto una medaglia nei giochi invernali, Arianna Fontana.
Da uomo di sport rinnovo il  “Vinca il migliore” e auguro buon divertimento a tutti.

Another magic act of the “Magnificient Land”: the World Short Track Team Championships competition. An important event of which to be very proud about expecially for this new (renewed) edition that the county of Bormio has been able to put on the track (short). The best teams of the world in this sport will be attending and the struggled for the medals will certainly be remarkable.
Altough I am a supporter of the Italian team, that will however have to compete with well-trained adversaries, I  wish all actors of these World Championships a hearty welcome and may the best always win, as being the spirit in all sport competitions.
Representing the CONI of the district I wish to underline our satisfaction for the attendance of many Valtellina athletes in the team, among which the youngest Italian athlete ever having won a medal in the Winter Olympic Games, Arianna Fontana. Being a sportsman, I would like to repete “may the best win!” and wish everybody grate fun.

An “azzurro” common thread as the Italian National team connects the commitments of our athletes between the Vancouver Olympic Games and the ice of the FISG Federal Centre of Bormio. After 12 years in fact the Valtellina will be again hosting the Short Track  World Team Championships, selecting Lombardy as a protagonist of a really special winter season for the Italian sport.
The Team short track is a discipline based on preparation, tenacity and on harmony. The numerous athletes of Lombardy composing the Italian National team and the Bormio Ghiaccio organization will be the paladins of these sports valours, as well as ambassadors of our territory in the world.
I am sure that all the participating teams will be given hospitality worthy of the Lombardy tradition, where the cordiality and passion of people in a territory of natural richness and unique landscapes make every event special, bringing our alpine resorts to be an ideal destination for tourism and big sports events.

Dopo 12 anni si disputano nuovamente sul nostro ghiaccio iridato i campionati mondiali di Short Track.  Bormio è avvezza ad essere sede di manifestazioni classiche di rilevanza internazionale ed è orgogliosa di porgere il  benvenuto  alle Nazioni che partecipano all’evento. Accanto agli appuntamenti  tradizionali e popolari, legati ad una secolare cultura e devozione religiosa, a Bormio si svolgono da numerosi lustri eventi sportivi invernali ed estivi che occupano ampio spazio su quotidiani e televisioni. Lo sforzo organizzativo e tecnico, volto a garantire lo spettacolo e la sicurezza degli atleti, è sempre più impegnativo. Per organizzare grandi eventi internazionali occorrono grandi risorse ed energie da parte di tutti, dalle istituzioni, agli imprenditori, fino alla popolazione locale.
La dotazione di infrastrutture della nostra località e la competenza di tecnici e responsabili sono molto  importanti. Tuttavia, ciò che crea la differenza tra un buon evento sportivo con uno eccellente sono,da un lato, i nostri impianti sportivi, dall’altro  la nostra gente, con la sua grande capacità di accogliere e partecipare. Tutta la nostra comunità è legata a questo entusiasmante  sport  che offre Bormio e gli atleti del comprensorio alla ribalta internazionale.
Con i nostri volontari che contribuiranno a trasformare tutti gli eventi collegati alle competizioni in un’esperienza indimenticabile,  accogliamo con passione le squadre, le autorità sportive, i supporters e tutti gli affezionati ospiti,  con l’augurio di rinnovare anche quest’anno il rapporto di amicizia che da sempre lega Bormio  agli sport del ghiaccio ed ai suoi protagonisti.

After 12 years the Short Track World Team Championships will be held again on our ice. Bormio is becoming accustomed to be the site of classic events of international importance and is proud to welcome all participating Nations. Besides the traditional and popular appointments related to secular culture and religious devotion, Bormio is carrying out since many decades winter and summer sports events occupying a lot of space on press and television. The organizational and technical efforts, needed to guarantee the entertainment and security of the athletes, is becoming more and more demanding. In order to organize big international events great resources and energies are required from everybody; institutions, businessmen till to the local population.
The infrastructures of our resort as well as the competence of technicians and organizers are very important. However, what makes the difference between a good and an excellent sports event is on one hand our sports facilities and on the other hand the great capacity of our folks to welcome and participate in all aspects. All the local community is bound to this fascinating sport bringing Bormio and its athletes to international limelight.
Together with all the volunteers helping to transform the events related to the competition into an unforgettable experience, we are giving a hearty welcome to all the teams, sports authorities,  supporters and devoted guests with the wish to renew even this year the friendship that is since always binding Bormio to the ice sports and its actors.

La Magnifica Terra non è di certo nuova ai grandi eventi sportivi, ma di sicuro vanta un primato indiscusso a livello mondiale per quanto riguarda una disciplina sportiva da poco annoverata fra gli sport olimpici (Albertville 1992): lo short track.
Era il ‘92 quando Marinella Canclini della Bormio Ghiaccio, la prima a entrare in nazionale, regalò alla sua terra il record mondiale nei 500 metri .
Di tempo ne è passato, ma la Bormio Ghiaccio si è confermata una vera e propria scuola di talenti che hanno guadagnato sul campo successi e medaglie, iridate, mondiali e olimpioniche. La Bormio Ghiaccio è stata e continua ad essere un vivaio per la nostra Nazionale.
L’appuntamento che attende la Magnifica Terra e l’intera provincia ci invita dunque a riflettere non solo sull’impeccabile attività coraggiosamente portata avanti in questi anni dai tecnici e dagli sportivi, ma sull’eccellente livello organizzativo raggiunto che, di fatto, eleva la Valtellina a palestra di ghiaccio internazionale. La conferma arriva dall’assegnazione dei Mondiali di Short Track 2010. Un successo al quale spero ne seguano tanti altri, al pari delle emozionanti vittorie di Torino 2006.
Ad atleti, tecnici, preparatori e organizzatori i miei migliori in bocca al lupo perché questo sport , fatto di ghiaccio, fatica e sacrifici, continui ad esprimere lo spirito di una terra coraggiosa e tenace.

The Magnificenty Land is not certaily new to the large sport events, but for sure brags an unquestioned world level supremacy regarding a sport discipline that is considered a newly entered in the Olympic sports (Albertville 1992): the Short Track. It ran the year 1992 when Marinella Canclini of the Bormio Ghiaccio, the first one to enter the national team, gave to her country the world recor in 500 meters . Time has passed, but the Bormio Ghiaccio has proven to be a true and actual school of talents that earned on the field successes and medals, world and olympic. The Bormio Ghiaccio was and continues to be a school for our national team.
The appointment that awaits the Magnificent Land and the whole province invites us therefore to reflect not only about the impeccable activity bravely achieved these years by the technicians and by the athletes, but also by the excellent organizational level reached that, by a matter of fact raises Valtellina to an international ice gymnasium. The confirmation arrives when it was assigned as the World Championship of Short Track 2010. A success to which we hope follow many more, just like the exciting victories of Turin 2006. To athletes, technicians, coaches and organizers, I wish the best of lucks because this sport, made of ice, toils and sacrifices, continues to express the spirit of a brave and tough land.

Possiamo con orgoglio affermare che dello Short Track italiano si è cominciato a parlare da quando la Bormio Ghiaccio ha iniziato, da oltre un decennio, la sua attività facendo crescere numerosi campioni e organizzando grandi competizioni.
Per questo la Federazione Italiana   Sport Ghiaccio ha costituito a Bormio l’unico Centro Federale di Short Track riconoscendo Bormio come centro di sicura eccellenza e nella Bormio Ghiaccio una società di grandi capacità organizzative.
Si è così arrivati alla assegnazione dei Mondiali di Short Track 2010 che costituiranno certamente un’ importante vetrina internazionale non solo per l’Alta Valle ma per tutta la provincia di Sondrio.
Questa manifestazione, assieme a tutte le altre competizioni a livello internazionale, offre un’altra valida occasione per testimoniare la molteplice offerta turistica del nostro territorio che sempre più si fa apprezzare per la vastità e la ricchezza delle sue eccellenze e che si propone quale meta ideale per una vacanza sia sportiva che di benessere o culturale, senza dimenticare le produzioni dell’artigianato e quella straordinaria dei suoi prodotti tipici enogastronomici.
Benvenuti, quindi, in Valtellina ad Atleti ed a tutte le loro delegazioni, con la certezza di un piacevole soggiorno unito ad un augurio di un sicuro successo alle gare dei Campionati Mondiali di Short Track.

We can proudly affirm that only after Bormio Ghiaccio has started growing numerous champions and organizing big competitions over ten years ago, you could hear talking about Italian Short Track. Therefore the Italian Federation of Sports on Ice has established in Bormio the only Federal Centre of Short Track giving Bormio credit for an excellent centre and Bormio Ghiaccio a club of great organizing capacity.
For this reason Bormio received the assignment of the Short Track World Championships 2010, which will surely be an important international showcase, not only for the upper Valtellina area, but for the entire Sondrio district.
This event, together with all the other international competiotion, gives a valid occasion to show the numerous touristic offers of our territory, which is more and more appreciated for the vastity and richness of its distinctions and moreover presents itself as an ideal sports, wellness and cultural holiday destination, without forgetting local crafts and the extraordinary local wine and food products.
We therefore welcome the athlete and their delegations in Valtellina, and feel confident that they will have a pleasant stay; we also give our best wishes for a sure success in the Short Track World Championships.

Ancora una volta Bormio è protagonista di un evento sportivo di portata mondiale.
I Campionati di Short Track 2010 stanno per accogliere in una delle splendide infrastrutture sportive dell’Alta Valtellina atleti, organizzazioni e appassionati di questo elegante sport su ghiaccio.
Nella scalata al successo che lo short track sta percorrendo, conquistando il meritato riconoscimento anche in Italia, l’Alta Valtellina corre in prima fila e vanta nomi di giovanissimi atleti già saliti agli onori della cronaca sportiva per il loro impegno, la loro tenacia e le loro medaglie. Il trionfo dei nostri giovani e talentuosi pattinatori alle Olimpiadi di Torino 2006 ha regalato a noi valtellinesi una rinnovata occasione per guardare alla splendida natura in cui siamo immersi, le sue montagne e i suoi ghiacci, con riconoscenza e senso di orgogliosa appartenenza.
I successi agonistici di questi ultimi anni devono tanto al rinomato ghiaccio di Bormio, una struttura e un’organizzazione sportiva che può vantare il merito di aver svolto un ruolo di primo piano nello sdoganamento dello short track in Italia e su cui si accenderanno a breve i riflettori dei media internazionali.
Bormio e l’Alta Valtellina sono pronti ad accogliere questo importante evento e ad offrire agli ospiti le proprie migliori risorse turistiche: grandi spazi di natura incontaminata, preziose testimonianze di storia ed arte, ma anche rilassanti strutture termali e kilometri di piste da sci perfettamente innevate.
Ai pattinatori che stanno per cimentarsi nella sfida dei Campionati di Bormio di Short Track 2010, agli organizzatori, ai tecnici e ai volontari, tutti impegnati nel preparare al meglio questo evento, un ringraziamento da parte delle istituzioni rappresentate. Buona fortuna e buon lavoro a tutti.

Bormio once again is to host a sporting event of international importance. The 2010 Short Track Championships are to welcome athletes, organizers and funs to one of the many superb sporting facilities in the Alta Valtellina. Alongside the surge of popularity of the sport, which is becoming more widely known within Italy itself, the Alta Valtellina has produced some of the young athletes alredy featuring in the sporting press thanks to their commitment, tenacity, and of course their medals.
The success of our young and talented skaters at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics gave those of us from the Valtellina cause to look up at the splendid natural landscape that surrounds us and feel a sense of pride and belonging. The competitive success enjoyed in the last few years owes much to the renowned Bormio ice rink, a facility and sports organisation which has played a fundamental role in the growing popularity of short track skating throughout Italy, and where the international media spotlight will soon fall. Bormio and the Alta Valtellina are ready to welcome this important event and offer its guests the best the area has to offer: huge areas of unspoiled nature, a rich patrimony of history and art as well as the thermal baths and many kilometers of perfectly groomed pistes.
To the skaters who are to rise to the challenge of the 2010 Short Track Championships, to the organisers, the technicians, and the volunteers, all busy preparing the event to the best of their abilities, many thanks on behalf of represented institutions.
